Subhash Chandra Bose:The Indivisible Hero from the Independence Journey
Indiais in the current spirit of patriotism with the Independence Day, the day Indiacelebrated its 73 years of Independence from the British Raj (rule). Britainhad India as its colony for over 200 years. While the fight against theunwanted rule and battle for Swaraj was initiated in 1857, India receivedfreedom after a struggle and utter bloodshed of 90 years. Various Brave heartsfought and sacrificed their lives to achieve the "Free India". Among variousyoung men and women, some led a large number of people with their strong willand vision to breathe in an India free from the rules and regulations of theBritish Empire, one such leader was Subhash Chandra Bose
Hewas born on 23 January 1897 to Janakinath Bose and Prabhavi Devi. He was a veryintelligent and sincere student and passed his B.A. in Philosophy from thePresidency College in Calcutta. At the mere age of 16, Bose understood a lot ofthings taking place in its environment, especially the offensive anti-Indianremarks by the British. The advocate father of Bose wanted him to serve aftercompleting studies in England. Though he cleared the ICS exams, Bose didn'twant to serve the alien government and resigned from civil service job and cameback to India.
Bosejoined the struggle for independence with the Non-corporation Movement startedby Mohandas K. Gandhi. Bose joined the Indian National Congress andfollowed the advice of Gandhi to serve under Chitta Ranjan Das, a politician inBengal. Bose become young educator, journalist, and commandant of the BengalCongress Volunteers. Bose served various years of his life in prison, whereafter he served the Indian National Congress general Secretary along withJawaharlal Nehru.
In1937, when Congress was elected in seven states, then he was released. Nextyear he became the president of the Haripura Congress Session. On thisposition, he took a very stern decision and asked Britishers to hand India overto the Indians. Following his opposition, he resigned from the post ofpresident and formed Forward Block. He went to Germany via Afghanistan andtried to persuade Germany and Japan to cooperate against the British Empire. Hethen moved to Singapore from Germany in 1943 and formed the Azad Hind Fauj. Thearmy comprised mainly Indians who were the prisoners of war; it crossed theBurma border and reached the Indian soil.
On18 August 1945, Subash Chandra was declared to kill an air crash over Taipei,Taiwan. Although it was believed that Netaji died in this plane crash, his bodywas never recovered. And, there are different stories regarding hisdisappearance.
