In a historic move, the Narendra Modi government succeeded in removing the special status provision to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. It is the biggest decision of the Modi government, which came shortly after 50 days of the beginning of its second term.

With this revocation order, Article 35A no longer exists. The article defines the permanent citizens of the state and also defines the relationship of the state with the Centre.

As per the statement released by Home Minister, Amit Shah, Jammu, and Kashmir will be"reorganized" and will no longer be a state. Jammu & Kashmir will be a Union Territory with Legislature, and Ladakh will also be a Union Territory but without Legislature.

There will be two Lieutenant Governors when this provision will come into force.

There will be numerous changes after this decision. To begin with, Jammu & Kashmir will no longer have it separate flag once Article is revoked.  As Jammu & Kashmir has become a Union Territory now so, all union laws would apply here.
